As we gear up for the new year, the United Kingdom Practical Shooting Association (UKPSA) is excited to announce two critical roles that will shape our communication and media landscape: Communications Officer and Media Officer. These positions are pivotal roles that will drive our mission, enhance our visibility, and ensure effective communication within and outside the Association.
To ensure a smooth transition, we offer an exclusive opportunity to shadow current officers starting in September, allowing you to gain early insights and hands-on experience before officially taking on the role in the new year.
Communications Officer
The Communications Officer is the backbone of our Association’s communication strategy, overseeing both internal and external channels to ensure robust and effective information flow. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage Communication Channels: Supervise the UKPSA’s official communication platforms, ensuring timely updates and the accurate dissemination of information across all channels.
- Coordinate with Other Sub Committees: Work closely with various committees to share news, updates, and important information through newsletters and other communication mediums.
- Handle Internal Communications: Promote transparency and effective information flow within the Association, ensuring all committee members are well-informed.
- IT Infrastructure and Website Management: Oversee the IT infrastructure, including the governance of emails and documentation, and manage the functionality and security of the UKPSA website.
- Report to Secretary and Council: Regularly update the Secretary and the UKPSA Council on communication initiatives and IT infrastructure status.

Media Officer
The Media Officer is the creative force behind our public presence, managing our media operations to enhance the UKPSA’s visibility and engagement. The core responsibilities include:
- Promote Association Events: Utilize various media channels to promote UKPSA events and activities, maximizing engagement and visibility.
- Website Design and Content: Oversee the design and content of the UKPSA website, ensuring it is not only engaging but also up-to-date with the latest information and developments.
- Social Media Management: Manage the UKPSA’s presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, coordinating with moderators and content creators to maintain a dynamic and interactive online presence.
- Create and Approve Media Content: Develop and approve media content—such as posters, images, and videos—that aligns with our brand guidelines and messaging strategies.
- Support Public Relations Officer: Assist the Public Relations Officer in managing media inquiries and providing content and information for external communications.
- Report to Council: Deliver comprehensive reports to the UKPSA Council on media operations, social media engagement, and the effectiveness of our media campaigns.

Early Adoption and Shadowing Opportunity
Starting in September, we offer a unique chance for selected candidates to shadow our current Communications and Media Officers. This early start will allow you to:
