In a recent development within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), Kevin, reelected Regional Director, has been invited to rejoin the IPSC Continental Committee. This role enables him to represent both the European and Great Britain regions. The announcement was made during a video conference meeting on February 14, 2024.

Highlights from the Meeting:

  • Match Cycle Update: The IPSC has decided to extend its Level IV-V Match Cycle from a 3-year to a 4-year period, starting with the introduction of the Handgun World Cup. This initial step opens the door for potentially adding more disciplines in the future. Criteria for World Cup match allocation are yet to be established.
  • Major Match Contract Revisions: Discussions on revising the Major Match Contract are ongoing. The IPSC aims to refine these contracts to enhance the organization of major matches, with further details to be worked out.
  • Caliber Considerations for Competitions: The IPSC is exploring the idea of drafting a list of approved calibers for use in competitions to ensure athlete safety and sport integrity. This initiative seeks to balance the needs of the sport with the preferences of its athletes, aiming to list common calibers and consider an upper power factor limit, along with the identification of ammunition standards.
  • Olympic Recognition Efforts: The path towards Olympic recognition continues to be a priority for IPSC. The upcoming SportAccord convention in Birmingham, GB, from April 7-11, 2024, will be a pivotal event where Olympic Recognition requirements will be discussed. The UKPSA is actively supporting IPSC in preparation for this convention.

IPSC President Vitaly Kryuchin emphasized the importance of these developments in his announcement. The organization is committed to evolving and adapting to ensure the safety, fairness, and continued growth of the sport.
