Hello everyone,
Thanks to the pandemic this has been a long time coming, so as the current Shotgun NSD I’m delighted to announce the UKPSA will be sending a squad to compete in the Shotgun World Shoot IV, held in Pattaya, Thailand, currently scheduled for 28/11/23 for eight days.
As with previous world shoots we are applying for a number of slots, which depending on our allocation will determine squad selection but also based on your availability and the eligibility criteria set out below.
Notwithstanding, Thailand is a big logistical challenge for us so I will need to understand quite early on if you are able to commit, this will aid the selection process.
Details regarding selection criteria and how to register interest:
‘Team GB’ will comprise of all four divisions and accommodate men and lady categories per current IPSC standards.
Selection criteria breakdown:
- Track record of consistent performance or otherwise mitigation (previous results, ranking and future potential)
- Commitment to the sport – participation in at least two Level 3 Shotgun matches during 2022, followed by a minimum of three Level 3 Shotgun matches in 2023 (preferably four or more)
- Willingness to perform as part of a team, represent the UKPSA and ultimately Great Britain at a World Shoot
- Availability for Team GB on and off-season events, virtual (zoom) and/or face to face when possible for team cohesion. Squadding at L3’s will get a bonus prize…!
Further details on budgeting, travel arrangements, permits/documentation, firearms transport & fees, ammunition allowances, accommodation and any local/THPSA specific requirements will be published as they become known. All relevant information will be compiled into an athletes information pack.
Athletes wishing to be considered should register their interest by emailing shotgunnsd@ukpsa.org
You will receive an acknowledgement of your email, then further match communications will be handled centrally, however individual comms for requirements such as uniform/match shirt sizes etc may become necessary. Worth noting at this time 5.11 may be the preferred supplier as with past events.
Also, I would be grateful of any support in organising the event on behalf of the Association, there is a lot to do so please contact me if you wish to help with any aspect.
Lets not forget to contact any potential sponsors who might contribute to our Team GB efforts and success in Thailand!
If you haven’t found it already, the THPSA have an active Facebook group that may give a taste of what to expect, plus an impressive photo library.
If there are any questions or feedback, feel free to contact me as above or I’ll see you at a match soon no doubt.
More to come.
